Facebook is introducing a new feature to enable mobile recharge for all users of Android devices. In order to access this new feature, one must have the latest Android version of the Facebook app. So how exactly does the recharge process take place? Let’s take a look.

  • Go to the top of the navigation and select the hamburger icon
  • Click the ‘See More’ option
  • You will be able to see the Mobile Recharge option in the dropdown list
  • Click on it to select the method of payment
  • Payment modes such as UPI, internet banking, etc., cannot be used as of now. The only means of payment is through debit or credit card.
  • Upon choosing the option for payment, you will be redirected to another page
  • You will be asked to enter your telephone number along with your telecom operator details
  • Once the required details have been entered, you can select the plans or recharge options according to your preference and proceed forward to the payment tab
  • A 3D secure password or a One Time Password (OTP) will be asked during the final payment
  • Once the process of payment is completed, you will obtain a receipt of confirmation

On the other hand, WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, is also experimenting a brand new feature for payment in India, allowing users to transfer money to others through the app. This feature has not yet been announced to the public. Once it is launched, there are high chances that this WhatsApp feature may give Paytm and other such payment apps a pretty tough and difficult competition.

This feature would have a massive advantage over Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and also some of the top banks such as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, etc.

Upon experimenting, beta testers made some new discoveries. It was found that the WhatsApp interfaces on their devices were now showcasing a long list of supporting banks and also a payments feature in the menu of their WhatsApp settings. Customers must initially verify their phone numbers and then select a bank in order to configure this particular feature on their device. Once this is configured, the option to make a payment becomes valid.

Almost everyone uses a smartphone today but very few know how to make the best use of their smartphone and make it smarter. If you are an android user, then you should know that there is so much you can do to make your phone usage simpler and more convenient. You can customize your device to avoid the hassle of opening unnecessary apps and save your internet usage as well. The features that can help you achieve maximum performance on your phone include-

Lose the excess baggage

All phones come installed with certain apps that are generally unnecessary. Most of these apps cannot be uninstalled but they sure can be disabled to avoid annoying notifications and updates. Save space.

Track your data usage

Android phones thankfully let you track your data usage for not all of us have the luxury of unlimited data plans. There are certain apps that help you track your daily and weekly data easily. Use them.

Cut down on data usage

A lot of apps keep running in the background and keep using your data for no reason. For instance, apps need your location unnecessarily which consumes a lot of data. Track this usage from settings and turn off the data usage on these apps if you aren’t using them. You will be surprised how much data you save after this.

Use Google Smart Lock

It can be frustrating to constantly unlock your device when you are not in unfamiliar territory. Google Smart Lock AKA Android Smart Lock allows you to personalize settings in a way that your phone stays unlocked in familiar territories. How convenient is that!

Use Find My Device

You have to protect what’s on your phone. The Find My Device feature (formerly called the Android Device Manager) helps you track your device’s location, lock and reset it from a distance. This means, if your phone gets stolen, you can simply wipe all the data from your phone. You can even make your phone emit a sound when its in silent mode and cannot find it. This is what happens to the most of us. This is a life saver.

Save Battery Life

There are many simple ways to save on battery life. Reducing data usage is one easy fix, especially if you restrict the apps that are allowed to run in the background. You should also turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you’re not using them. There are also, as always, third-party apps available that can help you conserve battery life.

Tether For Free

Using your smartphone as a mobile hotspot used to require an add-on plan from most carriers. Now, this feature is free in most cases, and when it’s not, you can download a third-party app. Simply go into settings and look for the tethering section. There you can enable the mobile hotspot feature, as well as Bluetooth and USB tethering. Just remember, this will use up mobile data.

Stay on Top of Security

Android has had some high profile security issues, so it’s important for users to be proactive about protecting their devices. See our security guide, which includes eight important tips to keep you and your device safe. New to Android 8.0 is Google Play Protect, which continuously scans apps in the store to ensure they’re legit.

These features can make your life way easier than you can imagine. Try these. We will have more such life savers for you in no time.
It’s your phone. Use it well!!

Gone are the days when photographers had to be called to take family pictures. This is the age of smartphones. Everyone can be and is a photographer. In addition, everyone has an advice lined up for you to take the best pictures. But no one tells you the basics, do they? The unfortunate many don’t know how to take the best pictures and think there is something wrong with them. The material world that we live in needs us to blend in and share even our most intimate moments with the world. Know this- you are amazing and by learning simple tips and tricks you can become a great photographer.
So what does it take?

The light at the end of the tunnel-

You cannot forget about the light when you take a picture. Always know that the best pictures need the best lights. The smartphone isn’t built to take pictures in all conditions, so make do with what you have. See where the light is coming from and adjust your camera accordingly.

Don’t shake just relax-

People often end up taking pictures while shaking their phone a lot. Don’t. Just relax, hold your phone horizontally for a wider frame (even if it makes your selfie look weird to you) and just click.

Zoom and move-

Instead of zooming in from your phone, just move closer to the object or the person. Zooming in from phone ruins the pixels of the image and it looks grainy and obviously like a newbie took it. Move more.

Angles and cleanliness-

You have to think about the angles when taking a picture. Its all about the right angles. Move a little, practice a lot. Change your point of view, explore bird’s eye view, its the best and always keep your camera clean. Always.

Apps are your friends-

A lot of applications these days help you edit your pictures to make them look professional and best. Use them. Don’t be scared to experiment.

Going away advice-

Have as much fun as you can. It’s not work, it’s a recreational activity. Take as many pictures as you want of as many things, people and places as you want. Explore. Move and stay happy. Smile, for someone maybe capturing you on their camera.
Stay awesome!!

Only charge 85% battery in one time

According to Battery University’s new research,  it is advised that you should charge your phone at short intervals, kind of like doing sprints if you will. Charge it for 10 or 20%, then stop. Charge it for the same percentage again after some time. Also, it is advisable that you should not fully charge your phone ever, and should charge till it hits 95% to keep your phone running optimally and well. They also said that, the modern lithium-ion batteries that are used today don’t need to be fully charged and also it is not desirable. The website stated, “in fact, it is better not to fully charge because a high voltage stresses the battery.”

Are the guidelines the same if you have an iPhone or an Android device?

The recommendations from Apple are: always have the software updated since it includes advanced energy-saving technologies; avoid extreme ambient temperatures; remove the cover if the phone gets too hot during charging; and, if the mobile is going to be on standby for a long time, it is better to turn it off. If the battery is completely exhausted it could enter a state of total discharge and can be recharged, but if it is fully charged, the battery will lose its capacity and autonomy.

It happens with all the batteries, it is not unique to iPhones: if it is overloaded it can be difficult or even impossible to charge it again, it is complicated because the phone automatically turns off if the level drops below a minimum of volts, but once it does, if it remains unused for a long time it could be unrecoverable.

Whatever mobile you have, good habits can increase its life. If you want to reduce the frequency with which you change your device, stay informed and banish old certainties because in the technological world everything changes at vertigo speed.

Give your phone the juice it needs at shorter durations. Save its life. Be good to your phone!! Happy days!!

The Instagram has been the safest space for social avoidance. This means you can the world of filtered photos without anyone knowing that you are online and responding to their messages.

But social media giant has now rolled out a feature similar to Facebook and WhatsApp allow your friends to see when you were last active on the platform. However, the feature on Instagram differs from that of its counterparts as the information is only shared with the person you last privately messaged or tagged.

Instagram

Android Users

  • To do so, tap on profile option on the bottom right corner on Android devices.
  • Tap on three dots visible on the top left corner.
  • Scroll down and toggle off the Show Activity Status and become incognito again.

iOS Users

  • Tap on Cog Icon next to Edit Profile
  • Scroll down to Show Activity Status option and toggle it off.

Social media the platforms have made various changes in their user experience last year. For instance, Snapchat-like story feature was introduced on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Instagram earlier rolled out a feature allowing its users to upload multiple photos at a time.

Facebook allows you to make your account private so that you personal information and your posts are only visible to your friends. But, there can be n number of reasons to access a private account. It can be to keep an eye on cheating spouse or girlfriend, keeping up with whereabouts of your children or any other reason. Ethical or unethical, moral or immoral, how you are gonna go with that?

There are two methods to view a private Facebook profile. These methods can also let you know if someone has blocked you or not.

Method 1.

  • Log out of your account.
  • Search for the person on Facebook’s search bar.
  • You can enter the exact username of the person and you will be able to see the profile.
  • You can also enter the name of the person, but you will have to scroll through hundreds or sometimes even thousands of profiles from search results to find the desired person.

Method 2.

  • Log out of your account.
  • Enter URL of the user’s profile in the address bar of your browser.
  • The URL of the profile will be in this format: facebook.com/username, For instance, you want to look in to Himanshu Shukla’s profile, you need to enter facebook.com/himanshu.shukla77. (It is important for you to know the exact username of the person to follow this method)
  • Hit enter.
  • The profile will be visible in front of you. You can visit their profile and also know if someone has blocked you on Facebook.

If the profile appears following this method, then the profile exists which means you have been blocked by the user. If the profile does not appear, then the profile has been deactivated from Facebook.

Method 3.

  • Search for the person’s name on Google search along with adding Facebook after it. For example, search Himanshu Shukla Facebook and identify the person you are looking for from multiple search results.
Click on the search result and you will be able to see the profile of person.
  • Try the above methods and do let us know if it proved effective. If you are facing any problem or have queries regarding the same drop it in the comments section below.

If you know any other method to view blocked or private Facebook profiles, drop them in the comments section below.

I assume almost everyone of you might have heard about the Apple’s fiasco. Many users had reported sudden slowing down of their iPhones soon after a new iPhone is launched by the Cupertino based giant. Some also reported unexpected shutdowns and phones not turning on.

Apple recently admitted that they slowed down the older iphones deliberately to avoid unexpected shutdowns. It also launched battery replacement program bringing the cost of battery replacement from Rs 6,500 to Rs 2,000 inclusive of taxes.

The company gave further clarification that when the batteries get old they cannot cope up with processor’s high demand. Clarifications and battery replacement is one thing and deliberately slowing down your iPhone is another. But, how would you know if you have been a victim of it?

  • Head over to App Store and download Lirum Device Info Lite app.

Apple

  • Open the app and tap on menu button on top left. Now tap on This Device.

Apple

  • Select CPU from the list.

Apple

  • It will display the CPU Actual Clock and CPU Maximum Clock.

Apple

Now, what you need to understand is that Business Insider recently pointed out that if the CPU Actual Clock speed is similar to CPU Maximum Clock speed then the phone is running at its peak performance. If it is not the same then the phone has surely been slowed down by the company.

We performed that test on the Apple iPhone 6s and it passed our test. For reference, the Maximum clock speed of iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus it is 1.4GHz. For iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and iPhone SE it is 1.85GHz. While for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus the maximum clock speed is 2.34GHz.

So, if you have any of these devices, follow these steps and check for yourself. If the actual speed differs from maximum speed, then you are also a victim of this manoeuvre.
Thank us later!

Facebook made two major changes to the user experience of it its website last year. First, it introduced the Snapchat like story feature in which users can upload photos, videos, text and graphics individually or together to create a story that will be visible to their friends for 24 hours only. The second was the throwback or “On This Day” feature which shows all the posts that user posted on that very specific date since the profile was created.

Everyone knows about these two features, but a secret feature which not everyone is aware of is what are discussing here. Yes, Facebook allows users to view each and every photo they have ever liked on Facebook. Not only you, it also let users view all the photos that their friends or spouse have liked. Many may object to this invasive feature but yes it does exists.

Facebook

It may prove really helpful for people like me who keep on scrolling through awesome pet photos and keeps on liking and sharing them. The feature can be fun and embarrassment at the same time. So you can spend hours looking at pictures you’ve ever liked on Facebook and also unlike those that are an embarrassment.

To do so, you just need to enter “photos liked by me” in the Facebook search bar to view photos and posts liked by you. You can enter “photos liked by —” say “Ayush” to view all the photos liked by Ayush on Facebook.
